Four Pro-Ukrainian Meeting Participants Seized by Separatists. “They Torture and Make Threats.”

(Translation from Russian by William Risch, Georgia College)

Four pro-Ukrainian activists were taken hostage by separatists and are being held in the former Party of Regions office on 2 Shevchenko Boulevard.  Activists from the Donetsk is Ukraine! movement said this on their Facebook page.

Activists explained to OstroV that those taken hostage had participated in a pro-Ukrainian meeting that had taken place the evening of April28 on Artem Street.

“They’re torturing them, they’re threatening them, they’re harassing them,” said the pro-Ukrainian activists about their friends taken hostage.

Since separatist troubles began in Donetsk, the Party of Regions oblast office was taken over as headquarters for activists of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic.

On the evening of April 28, separatists, armed with batons, clubs, and rods, attacked pro-Ukrainian demonstrators in groups and severely beat them.

I want to know what is wrong with these people, against people who’s only “crime” is to love Ukraine? What has driven them to these animal instincts. Sickening!
