Separatists Leave Donetsk Oblast Television and Radio Company Building (Translated from Russian by William Risch, Georgia College)

Separatists who seized the Donetsk Oblast Television and Radio Company building in Donetsk and tried to renew broadcasts of Russian television stations there left the Television and Radio Company (TRK) building. Espresso.tv. reported this news.

They removed the flag of the Donetsk People’s Republic from the building.

On Sunday, supporters of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR), after finishing a meeting in support of a referendum, went down the traffic lanes of Donetsk’s main street, tearing down Ukrainian national flags from buildings along the way. They went to the Donetsk Oblast Television and Radio Company building, where there was an insignificant number of law enforcement present, and chanted “Shame on you, media sell-outs!” and “Republic!.”

Some of the protestors went into the radio and television company’s building while the rest remained outside. The separatists’ goal had been “to begin broadcasting the Donetsk People’s Republic channel on Channel 27 by evening.”  They brought a satellite dish and some bags into the television and radio company’s building.  “The television channel’s ours,” claimed one DNR supporter.
