“Separatists Mention Battle near Sloviansk, Suspect Right Sector Involvement” (Translation by William Risch)

Fighting is taking place on the outskirts of Sloviansk in Donetsk Oblast, and Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) are headed toward the town. According to Interfax-Ukraine, this information comes from a representative of so-called town self-defense forces.

“According to information we have, fighting started on the edge of town, and people could hear shooting and explosions,” said Mykola, the so-called coordinator of these forces, who did not wish to give his last name. “As our activists have told us, APCs are headed toward town.” According to him, in Andriivka, which is right next to Sloviansk, the village council building is on fire, and shots were heard coming from it.

Later Mykola claimed that several so-called Sloviansk self-defense force posts were attacked. “We have precise information that people in black clothing opened fire, and they were riding in a vehicle that had no license plate on it,” he added. “We suppose that it could have been Right Sector.” According to someone who described himself as a “local activist,” several so-called self-defense force posts had been fired upon. Latest information indicates that no one had been injured. “They’d shot at observation posts,” he added.

“Right now our people are driving around remaining posts and figuring out if any of them have casualties,” said Mykola.

Interfax at this point has no further information from other sources about events taking place in Sloviansk right now.
